JB Gill: JLS singer hospitalised after being sprayed in face during 3am home raid

JLS singer JB Gill was hospitalised after his family home was broken into during a night-time raid.

As reported by The Sun, the singer was sprayed in the face with an unknown substance after he confronted four intruders who had entered his home on the outskirts of London at around 3am on Saturday (7 November).

Gill lives in the property with his wife Chloe, who was reportedly threatened with a knife during the attack, and their two young children.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, but is said not to have been seriously injured.

The incident is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police, while a spokesperson for the singer said that the family had increased their home security.

The Independent has contacted Gill’s representatives for comment.

On Sunday 8 November, Gill thanked his fans for support on Instagram, writing on his Story: “We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s reached out to us today. Honestly, it’s been overwhelming the love we have received.”

He continued: “We had hoped to keep the details of the incident private, in order to safeguard our young family but we thank Hod that we are all well and safe. We would appreciate privacy at this time.”

Gill rose to fame in 2008 after appearing on The X Factor as one quarter of boyband JLS, who placed second in the competition to Alexandra Burke.

Throughout their career together, the vocal group, which consisted of Gill, Marvin Humes, Aston Merrygold and Oritse Williams, released four studio albums and scored five UK number 1 singles.

They went their separate ways in 2013, but in February 2020 announced that they would be reuniting for a 15-date UK and Ireland arena tour in November and December.

However, these have now been pushed back to June and July 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
