Charli XCX urges luxury brands to donate clothes to Los Angeles fire victims

Charli XCX has urged luxury brands to donate clothes to those who have lost everything in the Los Angeles wildfires.

The world has watched on in horror since Tuesday as fires have ripped through huge areas of Los Angeles - destroying thousands of homes and causing billions of dollars of damage.

Taking to social media on Saturday, chart-topping singer Charli, 32, appealed to fashion brands that usually send her gifts to send free items to those in need in California instead.

In an Instagram Stories post, the Apple singer wrote, "As a person in the public eye I am often being sent clothes and other things by brands wanting to gift me something.

"This is very kind and sweet but I want to encourage brands to give to people who really truly need it. Any brands reading this please donate to those who have been tragically affected by these horrific LA fires."

Firefighters have been battling flames for almost a week since the disaster erupted in Los Angeles on Tuesday 7 January.

Over 180,000 people have been evacuated as the flames have spread from the Pacific Palisades to the Altadena area of Los Angeles County.

Reports have revealed that at least 16 people have been killed in the disaster - while over 12,000 homes have been destroyed or damaged by the fires that are continuing to be fuelled by high winds.
