NewsJanuary, 13 Beyoncé's foundation donates $2.5 million to Los Angeles fire relief effortsBeyoncé's BeyGOOD foundation has donated $2.5 million (£2 million) to help those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. The music superstar announced on Sunday that her charitable foundation would be making a sizeable donation to help families who have lost their homes in the Altadena and Pasadena neighbourhoods of LA. "BeyGOOD is taking action by announcing the LA Fire Relief Fund with a donation of 2.5 million dollars," representatives wrote on social media. "The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires." According to a press release, BeyGOOD staff have worked with volunteer service organisations and churches since the start of the wildfires to identify displaced residents most in need. Thousands of people have lost their homes and 24 people have died in the ongoing wildfires, which erupted on 7 January. Celebrities who have lost their properties include Paris Hilton, Anna Faris, Billy Crystal, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, Miles Teller, Mel Gibson, Joshua Jackson and Milo Ventimiglia. Beyoncé isn't the only star who has contributed to the relief efforts. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis donated $1 million (£825,000), Hilton launched an emergency fund, and Halle Berry and Sharon Stone are working with +COOP, a store which has turned into an emergency pop-up shop for clothes, toys and essentials for families affected by the crisis.
