NewsMarch, 10 Doechii named 2025 Billboard Woman of the Year![]() Doechii has been named Billboard's Woman of the Year for 2025. The rising rapper will be presented with the Woman of the Year award at this year's Billboard Women in Music event, which takes place on 29 March at the YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California. The news, which was announced on Monday, comes two years after Doechii won the Rising Star award at the 2023 edition of the awards show. The Denial Is a River hitmaker is only the third artist to be named Woman of the Year after winning the Rising Star award, following in the footsteps of Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga. The musician, real name Jaylah Hickmon, is also only the second rap artist to win the award, after Cardi B took it home in 2020. Previous Woman of the Year recipients include Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Madonna, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish and last year's honouree, Karol G. Hannah Karp, Editor-in-Chief of Billboard, said in a statement, "Doechii is taking pop culture by storm, this year becoming the third woman in history to win a Grammy best rap album, and dazzling fans of every musical genre with her breathtaking performances, ultra-candid lyrics and utterly unique sound, style and spirit. We are thrilled to celebrate Doechii and cheer on her continued success." Last month, Doechii won the Grammy for Best Rap Album for her critically acclaimed mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal, becoming only the third woman to win the category after Lauryn Hill in 1996 and Cardi in 2019. Also this year, the hitmaker was named Outstanding New Artist at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards.
