NewsMarch, 12 Lady Gaga 'blacks out' in presence of Nine Inch Nails's Trent Reznor![]() Lady Gaga has joked she "blacks out" whenever she is in the presence of Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor. During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday, the popstar explained that she was inspired by the rock band's 1994 album The Downward Spiral and single Closer when recording the song Disease for her new record, Mayhem. When host Howard asked why she likes Closer so much, Gaga replied, "Because it's so good!" And as to whether she has ever met Reznor, the Die with a Smile hitmaker - real name Stefani Germanotta - confirmed she had spoken with him multiple times. "I forget the first time. I think I black out every time I'm in his presence," she joked, before adding: "He's an amazing musician." Gaga also insisted she isn't "intimidated" by the prolific singer-songwriter. "Just really excited, stoked, quiet," the 38-year-old added. Elsewhere in the conversation, Gaga opened up about her complex relationship with fame while discussing the meaning of her song, Perfect Celebrity. "I think in a way, when I was writing, I was feeling like there was the real me and there was the clone me. It's kind of one of the more angry songs I've ever written," she shared. "The song is a little bit of a retaliation against myself, and I'm just sort of trying to figure out as I go through it, how I feel about it all, and it's kind of a reckless tune, I think, in a way." Gaga dropped her sixth studio album, Mayhem, last week.
