NewsMarch, 12 Sting makes first public appearance after cancelling shows due to ill health![]() Sting has made his first public appearance since cancelling multiple shows due to ill health. The British musician attended the Wayuu Taya Foundation's Spring Gala on Tuesday, almost two months after he cancelled a series of shows on the advice of his doctor. Sting attended the charity event, which aims to improve conditions for indigenous communities, with his wife of 33 years, Trudie Styler. Shortly after pulling out of the shows, which were due to take place in late January as part of his STING 3.0 tour, the 73-year-old revealed he was suffering from a "temporary throat infection". Sting, real name Gordon Sumner, postponed shows in Phoenix, Arizona and Wheatland, California, as well as an appearance at the Cherrytree Music Company's 20th anniversary concert. The Phoenix concert, originally scheduled for 24 January, has been rescheduled for 1 June, while the Wheatland show has been moved from 26 January to 28 May. Meanwhile, the anniversary concert has been rescheduled from 25 January to 29 May. On 22 January, the Every Breath You Take hitmaker told fans he was "steadily improving" from his throat infection and thanked them for their well wishes. "Thanks so much for all of the well wishes," he wrote on Instagram at the time. "I am steadily improving from a temporary throat infection which has prevented me from singing, though I'm looking forward to resuming my performances and rescheduled shows soon. Love, Sting." The musician returned to the stage on 30 January to perform a three-song set at the FireAid benefit concert in Los Angeles.
