NewsApril, 11 Adam Levine admits Moves Like Jagger could have been a 'career ender'![]() Adam Levine has admitted that Moves Like Jagger could have been a "career ender". The Maroon 5 frontman has reflected on the band's 2011 hit with Christina Aguilera, admitting that he didn't know if it would be a huge failure or a major success. "I was like, 'Man, this motherf**king song is either a career ender or it's the biggest f**king thing on the planet,'" Adam said during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show this week. "That song had not been able to be placed with anyone... I guess it was written from a female perspective..." the Payphone singer continued. "They played me the song and I was like, 'I guess I can say I got the moves like Jagger' - and the whole room gasped." Adam told host Howard that releasing the song was a "huge swing", but they "did it and then the rest is history". The 46-year-old hitmaker then recalled that Coldplay frontman Chris Martin hated the song when he first heard it, but eventually came around. "Chris Martin said the best thing about Moves Like Jagger," he remembered. "He was like, 'Man, when I first heard that song, I hated it... and then I listened again and again and then I just fell in love with it'... And I found that to be so true of the song." Adam continued, "It's almost like when you first hear it, you're like, 'No, no, no, no,' but then it's like this delicious piece of candy." Moves Like Jagger reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time and has sold over 14 million digital copies, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time.
