NewsJune, 21 Michelle Williams working on new music![]() Michelle Williams is working on new music. The former Destiny's Child singer, who hasn't released a new album since 2014's Journey to Freedom, has been working on music whenever she gets a chance between her Death Becomes Her stage performances and public speaking engagements. However, she is just seeing what happens in the studio instead of putting pressure on herself to release a new album. "I'm working with someone to possibly do an EP or something," she told Variety. "I don't want to do it (as) an album - I don't think. You say that and then before you know it, you have 12 songs. We will see. I've just been enjoying using my gifts in other ways to impact people." With a laugh, Williams added, "But sometimes a hit song is a nice thing to have every now and then." The 45-year-old released her first solo album, Heart To Yours, in 2002 and followed it up with Do You Know in 2004, Unexpected in 2008 and Journey to Freedom 11 years ago. Since November, she has been performing eight shows a week in the Broadway musical adaptation of the 1992 film Death Becomes Her, in which she plays lead character Viola Van Horn. When she's not busy with the show, she can regularly be found speaking publicly about mental health, a topic she addressed in her 2021 memoir Checking In: How Getting Real About Depression Saved My Life - and Can Save Yours.
