Mariah Carey: 'I don't believe in time or birthdays'

Mariah Carey has revealed she refuses to believe in time.

The 56-year-old singer was interviewed on Capital FM on Monday and discussed a range of topics from clocks to birthdays. Carey continued to shock Capital Breakfast co-hosts Sian Welby, Jordan North and Chris Stark as she discussed her unconventional beliefs.

"That is true," Carey replied when North asked if she refuses to acknowledge the passing of time.

When Welby asked her to expand on her answer, Carey stated: "I just don't believe in it."

Stark remained confused by Carey's stance and pressed further, as she wondered if the Dreamlover star simply had an issue with changing time zones.

"No, just time," Carey insisted.

The radio hosts asked if the superstar was "not into" clocks, to which the star replied: "Yeah. No, just let it go."

The conversation then moved on to questions surrounding Carey's birthday and her age.

Welby wondered if the singer celebrates her birthday each year, with Carey making it clear she doesn't pay attention to her advancing years.

"I don't have a birthday, no," she explained. "Anniversaries, yes."

Stark clearly remained confused by Carey's reluctance to adhere to traditional timekeeping and asked how she arranges meetings.

"Yeah, I would have someone call you and figure it out," Carey reasoned.
