Paris Jackson slams critics of her performing on anniversary of father Michael's death

Paris Jackson has hit out at those criticising her for having scheduled a gig on the anniversary of her father Michael Jackson's death.

The 27-year-old musician is due to support Incubus on 25 June at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee - 16 years to the day since the tragic death of her dad, aged 50, after suffering a heart attack caused by a propofol and benzodiazepine overdose.

Social media users criticised her decision to perform on the date - but Paris hit back by saying it was a consequence of being a support act and the fact she refuses to demand special treatment.

"So, people are mad again," the singer said in a series of videos shared to her Instagram Stories on Friday, according to the New York Post. "One of the tour dates I'm supposed to be going out on tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra happens to be June 25, which is a very negative anniversary for me in my life and my family.

"So, what I guess I have to explain to these people is that when you're first of three, and you're not headlining these shows, you don't pick what date you perform or what time you go on stage to perform, or what city you perform in.

"First of three also doesn't get a tour bus. You get maybe a sprinter van, which I've done before when I've got a band with me. But I'm not going to have my band with me this time," she added, stating that she would be travelling with her sound technician fiancé, Justin Long.

Criticising those highlighting the date, she went on to say: "Also, why the f**k would I make a big fuss about it? This feels like (Incubus is) doing me a favor by bringing me out on tour," before sarcastically continuing: "So, I'm gonna tell 'em, 'Sorry, guys, we can't perform on this date? F**k you."

Paris was announced as an opening act alongside Manchester Orchestra on Incubus' 2025 tour of the US and UK in March.
