Jessie J cancels Toronto concert at last minute due to safety concerns

Jessie J cancelled her concert in Toronto, Canada at the last minute on Sunday night due to safety concerns.

The Price Tag singer arrived at Danforth Music Hall and decided it wasn't safe for her fans to get to and from the venue amid the region's treacherous winter storm, which has seen record snowfall and temperatures as low as -14C.

Jessie announced her decision in a statement on Instagram, revealing that she "personally" made the decision to cancel the show.

"I don't feel comfortable having people risk their safety for the show. I understand some people will be upset and some, I'm sure, will be relieved, however, I feel this is the right decision. You will get a full refund for your tickets," she explained.

"I am truly sorry. I am currently standing in the venue and getting here wasn't safe and the snow is only getting worse. I just can't imagine how people would get home in the dark with the weather like this."

The 37-year-old signed off her post by asking fans to "respect (her) decision" even if they don't agree with it.

She added, "But for me safety always has to come first."

The Domino hitmaker was previously forced to reschedule her North American tour after finding out she needed to undergo further treatment for breast cancer. She had surgery in June last year after her diagnosis, and subsequent tests have found no spread of the disease.

She kicked off the tour in Atlanta, Georgia on 21 January and is next set to perform in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Tuesday night. She is scheduled to make stops in New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver and Las Vegas before wrapping up the tour in Los Angeles on 6 February.

The mother of one will then embark on a U.K. and Europe tour in April.
