FKA twigs wins Grammy for Eusexua at pre-ceremony show

FKA twigs has won her first Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album for Eusexua.

The Premiere Ceremony, a pre-telecast show held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles and hosted by Glee star Darren Criss, sets the scene for the major category winners who are announced at the live telecast.

"I didn't expect to come up here. I was just so happy to be nominated," British star FKA twigs said in her speech. "Thank you so much, wow."

She pipped two fellow Brits - Fred Again and PinkPantheress - to the post, as well as Australian superstar DJs Rüfüs Du Sol and Grammy veteran Skrillex.

She added, "I know to a lot of people I may be new, but I've actually been doing this a really long time. To any artist: Don't give up, follow your vision, do you, because that's what's going to make the world fall in love with your art."

The first award of the day, for Best Pop/Duo Group Performance, went to Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for Defying Gravity. They were not present to accept the award.

Golden from KPop Demon Hunters won Song Written for Visual Media, while Music Film went to Music for John Williams, meaning director Steven Spielberg has also won his first Grammy.

Earth, Wind & Fire gave an opening performance of Shining Star at the Premiere Ceremony.

"That's how you start a show!" Recording Academy CEO and President Harvey Mason Jr said in his opening remarks. "That's a statement. That's joy. That's resilience."

A total of 86 of the 95 Grammys are handed out ahead of the televised show.

Following the Premiere Ceremony, comedian Trevor Noah will host the main show for a sixth and final year.
