Ronson made life tough for Le Bon

Mark Ronson has revealed how he put Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon through his paces.

The Grammy-winning producer worked with the band on their new album, All You Need Is Now, and made the frontman rewrite his songs several times.

"At the beginning Simon said to me, 'If something's not good enough, you've got to tell me, don't hold back because you're a fanboy'.

"I think in the end he probably regretted ever saying those words - I made him rewrite some songs five or six times," he said.

As a fan of Duran Duran's music, Mark - who wrote three songs for the soundtrack to Russell Brand's new film Arthur - admitted he was anxious about the prospect of collaborating.

"I am a huge fan, so it was daunting. This was my one shot to work with the band, and I loved them as a kid and there are things I love about their early music that I wanted to bring back, things that I thought they'd got away from," he continued.

"It's the longest I've ever worked on an album, a year-and-a-half in the end, but it was worth it. I didn't want to be another in a line of producers that have made not-so-great Duran Duran albums."
