Twain: My career has been a miracle

Shania Twain has joked how her success has been a 'small miracle'

The country singer received a star on Hollywood's legendary Walk of Fame, but insisted fame hasn't affected who she is.

"Why is a girl from Windsor, Ontario getting a star?" she laughed. "I really don't know - it's a small miracle to be honest that I am standing here!"

LA's blazing hot sunshine made posing for pictures an exhausting experience for the singer.

"I'm 45!" Shania jokingly shouted at photographers who tried to make her pose.

Despite having sold more than 57 million albums in the US and Canada, making her the top-selling female country artist of all time, Shania revealed how her family has kept her grounded.

"I took my son on tour with me as a toddler, he had been reading a book about ants and I guess it was still fresh in his mind because Eja turned to me and observed 'Mummy, they look like ants' referring to all the people streaming in from a distance. 'You're the queen and they're all here for you'!" Shania told crowds.

"I've never wanted Eja to get confused by the image of celebrity and have the false impression that I was superior to anyone so I reminded him that I wasn't the queen. In fact I work for those people and I have to make them happy.

"That is the truth of being a star," she insisted, "Our job is to entertain you come thick or thin and I can tell you I do that with the greatest pleasure."
