Kings of Leon boast Welsh heritage
The bassist of rockers Kings of Leon has tried his hand at the Welsh language after discovering his band's ancestors came from Wales.
Jared Followill along with brothers Nathan and Caleb and cousin Matthew make up one of the world's biggest rock groups.
The Brit and Grammy Award winners, best known for hits such as Sex On Fire and Use Somebody, have released five albums to date.
They have played in Wales a number of times, but were unaware of their links to the country until recently.
Bass player Jared, 24, wrote on Twitter: "Finally found out where Followills came from.
"It was originally Followell and we came to Virginia from Wales in the 1700s. I'm Welsh. Cool."
A number of fans in Wales responded via the social networking site by inviting him and the band to Wales, prompting him to reply in Welsh.
He replied to one-well wisher: "Diolch yn fawr. Falch o fod yma" - which translates as "Thank you very much. Proud to be here."
Other famous pop stars who have links to Wales include Kylie Minogue, whose mother was born in Maesteg, and Donny Osmond, who discovered his family originally hailed from Merthyr Tydfil.
