Jessie J's chair stopped spinning

Singer Jessie J has revealed her spinning chair broke down during auditions for BBC One's new music talent show The Voice.

The Do It Like A Dude star and fellow judges sit with their back to wannabes but whack a button if they like what they hear, making their seat revolve.

However, Jessie was left floundering after a mechanical mishap stopped her chair moving, leaving Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am to spring to her aid.

She said: "My chair broke. The button wasn't working so I had to make it really obvious I was hitting my button like 'pow!' - and then Will spun the chair for me."

Jessie, will, Sir Tom Jones and The Script's Danny O'Donoghue are the judging panel for the new show and each has to make up their minds purely on the sound of the contestants' voices.

If they like what they hear, they spin and face the acts to offer themselves as a vocal coach.

But should more than one judge turn round, the contestant has the balance of power and can choose whose team they would like to join.

After each coach has chosen 10 contestants in the "blind" auditions, the show moves on to the next stage.

Each coach must pit two of their own acts against each other to sing a competitive duet in front of a studio audience - and then immediately choose who should stay and who should leave.

Eventually 20 entrants will be left to go through to the live finals, voted by viewers.
