Emotional return for singer Cohen

Leonard Cohen is returning to perform at the spot where he was reduced to tears by the audience four years ago.

The veteran artist will play two nights at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin, on September 11 and 12.

The 77-year-old singer and songwriter broke a 10-year hiatus from live shows by performing in the grounds of the Irish Museum of Modern Art in 2008.

Overwhelmed by the reception at the performance, he recalled: "We were playing in Ireland and the reception was so warm that tears came to my eyes and I thought 'I can't be seen weeping at this point' - then I turned around and saw the guitar player weeping."

Cohen cites WB Yeats as one of his major inspirations and his work is some of the most re-recorded, with an estimated 1,330 original songs covered.

Tickets for the shows go on sale from 9am this Friday.
