Chart success for ceremony stars

The Olympics effect has hit the charts with Arctic Monkeys and Mike Oldfield among the stars benefiting from their appearance at Danny Boyle's opening ceremony.

Midweek sales figures from the Official Charts Company show Emeli Sande's album climbing four places from number eight to number four.

Her cover version of Abide With Me, which she performed in the Olympic stadium on Friday, is the week's biggest climber leaping 148 places to 32 in the singles chart.

Tubular Bells star Mike Oldfield is at number six in the album charts with his Greatest Hits collection, Two Sides - The Very Best Of Mike Oldfield.

The highest climber in the album charts is Frank Turner who also performed at the ceremony on Friday. His album, England Take My Bones, climbs 58 places from 85 to 27.

Dance duo Underworld look set for their first top 10 single since Born Slippy after Caliban's Dream, which they wrote for the ceremony, climbed 62 places to number seven.

Arctic Monkeys' cover of The Beatles' Come Together is at number 19, while Turner's I Still Believe is at number 30.

The top spot looks like it will belong to rapper Wiley with his track Heatwave and Conor Maynard's debut, Contrast, looks set to top the album charts.
