Green Day still on for MTV VMAs

Green Day are still planning to rock the MTV Video Music Awards despite frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's recent health scare.

The band were forced to cancel an Italian concert after the 40-year-old lead singer "was rushed to hospital due to illness" on September 1.

In a video on the band's website Greenday.com, bassist Mike Dirnt said doctors didn't think it was a good idea for Billie Joe to play the concert on September 2 in Bologna. He didn't give details about the illness.

However, a Green Day spokesperson has told MTV News that the band will be in Los Angeles on Wednesday for the rehearsals for the awards show, and that they will be on stage for the event on Thursday (September 6).

According to their website, after the VMAs, the band's next scheduled tour date is on September 21 at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
