Drake climbs up music rich list

Drake has made it into the top 10 list of hip-hop kings, joining Jay-Z, Kanye West and P Diddy.

The rapper - who made his debut in 11th place on the Forbes list in 2010, narrowly missed out on a place in the top five, despite making around 20.5 million dollars from sales of his second album Take Care, Club Paradise tour and deals with Sprite and Kodak.

Dr Dre - whose real name is Andre Young - stole the crown from former number one Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter after banking around 110 million dollars in earnings before tax, largely due to his lucrative Beats By Dr Dre headphones.

He was tied in sixth place last year with Eminem, who came ninth this year.

Sean 'P Diddy' Combs took second spot, fuelled by his share of profits from Ciroc vodka, while Jay-Z and Kanye West were third and fourth respectively.

Nicki Minaj, who made her debut on the list in 2011, remains the only female in the top 20.

Other hip-hop stars who made it into the top ten include Lil Wayne, Ludacris and Birdman, while Snoop Lion and Akon all dropped down the list.
