Backstreet Boys in tears over star

The five members of Backstreet Boys were brought to tears as they unveiled their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The emotional boyband said the recognition meant the world to them as they celebrated 20 years together.

Each member of the group shed more than a tear or two as they addressed the screaming fans.

Turning to his bandmates, AJ McLean said he was overwhelmed by the occasion: "I'm trying not to cry, I love you guys and aside from my wedding day and the birth of my daughter, this is the best day of my life."

Howie Dorough said he felt he had taken his place in history as he revealed the 2,495th star on the Walk of Fame. "To be honoured here, to be put in stone next to the Osmond family and Boyz II Men, this means I know we made a mark in history.

"And I know I will be able to bring my family, my kids and their kids here, they will be able to see the legacy of the Backstreet Boys for many years."

Heartthrob Nick Carter took a deep breath before telling the crowd: "We're still here and I want to thank everybody for sticking with us throughout the years, through the rollercoaster ride that we put you on.

"I encourage everyone to let the world know that Backstreet is back and we aren't going anywhere."

Twenty years after they first performed together the quintet are set to go on tour again with the original five member line-up.
