NewsApril, 10 Free tickets for city festivalAlmost 40,000 free tickets for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Londonderry will be made available next Tuesday, it has been revealed. The three-day live music festival is being held at the UK City of Culture from May 24-26. The first day will focus on dance music and Radio 1Xtra. The next two days will have a main stage and an In New Music We Trust stage. The festival is being held at Ebrington Square, a converted former army barracks and the Pavilion. A total of 37,500 tickets will be given away in total. Olly Murs and Two Door Cinema Club are the first artists confirmed to perform. Ben Cooper, controller BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio1Xtra said: "We're really looking forward to bringing our DJs and the biggest artists to a city that is famous for its love of live music. "This will be the first time the Big Weekend has been held over three days so we want as many people involved as possible - at the gigs, listening on Radio 1, watching on BBC 3, on their mobile, online, everywhere!" The full line-up will be announced early next month. Tickets will be given away in pairs and will be available online via www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/bigweekend. People can also call 08442097353. A handling fee of £2.50 per ticket will be applied.
