Brit winner Tom has sinking feeling

Brit Award winner Tom Odell suffered a sinking sensation when he made a triumphant return to Los Angeles.

The 22-year-old singer-songwriter played to a sold-out house at the historic Troubadour in West Hollywood, but had to interrupt his set before his show-stopping finale of Another Love because of his sinking piano stool.

"I don't know if you noticed, but I was gradually getting smaller through that last song," he joked to the crowd, which included Revenge star Nick Wechsler.

After a suitable alternative was provided, the Critics' Choice Award winner completed his set to rapturous whoops and cheering.

He opened the hour-long show with a cover of Randy Newman's I Love L.A, before moving on to tracks from his debut EP Songs From Another Love, which was only released in America last week.

During a performance of Supposed To Be he abandoned his usual piano to pick up a guitar, confessing: "I'm going to try playing the guitar. I'm not very good because I've not been doing it that long but I will give it a go."

His tour of North America has included stops in New York, Philadelphia and Chicago, as well as a swing by the David Letterman set to perform on the late night talk show.

He will move on to San Francisco, Seattle, Portland and Vancouver before returning to London to support the Rolling Stones in Hyde Park this summer.
