Spice Girls are calling it a day?

The Spice Girls have finally decided to retire, according to reports.

According to the Daily Mirror, Mel B, who is based in LA, and bandmates Mel C, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell decided to pull the plug on any plans for a potential world tour next year after Victoria Beckham ruled herself out of any shows.

Scary, Sporty, Baby and Ginger Spice apparently reached the decision in a conference call 10 days ago.

A source was quoted as saying: "Led by Geri, the girls had been plotting a world tour as a four-piece band, culminating in a final night at Wembley Stadium.

"The three other girls had been initially up for it but once they started having meetings they realised the capital wasn't there.

"They also feared a general apathy from the public if Posh wasn't in the fray, leading to dates not selling out."

The report came after it was announced that the Spice Girls musical Viva Forever! is to close after just six months in the West End, despite a blaze of publicity for the show.

There had been reports that the group would search for a singer to replace Victoria in an X Factor-style TV series, after Posh decided she didn't want to be part of any reunion, but Mel C called the rumours "bizarre".
