Jagger denies Katy Perry pass claim

Sir Mick Jagger has denied a claim by singer Katy Perry that he made a pass at her when she was a teenager.

The US star, who recently scored her fourth UK number single with Roar, suggested he tried to "hit" on her a decade ago when she was about 18 and working as a backing vocalist.

She made her claim during an interview with an Australian radio station, saying they had gone for dinner around the time she worked on one of his songs, called Old Habits Die Hard.

But a statement issued by the Rolling Stones frontman's publicist pooh-poohed her version of events.

It said: "Mick Jagger categorically denies that he has ever made a pass at Katy Perry. Perhaps she is confusing him with someone else."

Katy, who turned 29 last week, told her Australian DJ interviewers: "I actually went to dinner with him one time and he hit on me one time when I was like 18.

"But that was a long time ago and since then he's been very kind and I got to sing Beast Of Burden on his stage on their tour."

Asked how she turned down an advance from a music star such as Sir Mick, she responded: "Well, you bring a friend and they do them. You sacrifice your friend."

Sir Mick, 70, would have been around 60 at the time the song was recorded.
