Kaiser Chiefs for World Cup anthem?

Kaiser Chiefs are hoping that their latest track, Coming Home, will become the country's unofficial World Cup anthem.

While Gary Barlow has written the official England song, Greatest Day, the group - fronted by Ricky Wilson - are expecting fans to play their song instead.

The band's bassist Simon Rix told the Sun: "Hopefully, Coming Home will be played when England are carrying the World Cup on the plane back home."

Ricky, who's a coach on The Voice, added: "We could always do a special edition - Coming Home Early!"

Spice Girls Mel C and Emma Bunton, Pixie Lott, Katy B and Gary Lineker all feature in Greatest Day, a cover of the Take That hit. The song, with proceeds going to the Sport Relief charity, will be released nearer to the tournament in June.

Ricky also revealed that he regrets turning down the opportunity to write a World Cup song in 2006.

"We were asked to do a World Cup song but we said no. We said we didn't have the time," he said.

"But you can make some time for something like that. When the World Cup was on, we were all sitting in the pub going, 'We could have been doing this'."

Kaiser Chiefs' new album, Education, Education, Education & War, will be released on March 31.
