Bands get funding to make it abroad

Metronomy, Slow Club and Band Of Skulls are among 14 acts getting Government funding to make a name for themselves overseas.

The money, from the Music Export Growth Scheme, goes towards international tours and promotion.

The full list of acts benefiting are Band Of Skulls, Bo Ningen, Charli Taft, Christian Gregory, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Julia Biel, Lulu James, Metronomy, Savage Messiah, Skinny Lister, Slow Club, Smoke Fairies, Transition and Young Fathers.

Slow Club, a duo formed in Sheffield, said: "We've toured America a few times now but it's an expensive business and making it work can sometimes be difficult. Being able to head out there again is really exciting."

Bo Ningen, a London-based four piece, said: "We couldn't have made this US trip and all the amazing shows out here happen without this export fund.

"It was a massive help to us and gave us a great opportunity to perform Coachella, one of world's acclaimed music festivals."

Further application rounds will take place periodically over the next two and a half years, with the next round opening for submissions on May 12.
