Turner not rushing Monkeys album

Alex Turner has admitted it is unlikely Arctic Monkeys' next album will be out any time soon.

The frontman of the band told NME that although he has penned some new music he isn't rushing to unveil a follow up to last year's AM, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize and reached number one.

He said: "I've written a few things, but I'm not in a hurry."

Alex suggested he and his bandmates Matt Helders, Jamie Cook and Nick O'Malley, who are still promoting AM, are currently too busy to get stuck into recording their sixth release.

"We're going to keep going [with touring] until the summer and beyond that a little bit, maybe. I don't know," he said.

"I wouldn't think it'll be too soon that we do the next one."

He went on: "It's been going really well in America and there's still lots of s**t still to do on this album.

"I don't feel, for once, that we need to rush and get on to the next thing. It seems like a good place to leave it for a minute."
