Harris's track is top Summer song

Calvin Harris' Summer is Spotify's most streamed song globally over the last three months, the digital music provider has revealed.

The DJ's hit track has reached almost 160 million streams on the service.

Ariana Grande's Problem ft Iggy Azalea is second on Spotify's global list, with third place going to reggae fusion group Magic! for their debut track Rude.

Angela Watts, VP Communications at Spotify, said: "It's fitting to have Summer by Calvin Harris as the soundtrack to the season around the world. It's a perfect party anthem and worthy of taking the streaming crown."

In the UK, Ed Sheeran's Sing was the most streamed song of the summer, followed by Mr Probz' Waves and Sam Smith's Stay With Me. Ella Henderson's Ghost was in fourth place on the UK list.

The former X Factor contestant has plenty to celebrate as OfficialCharts.com has announced that Ghost was officially the UK's biggest song of the season across all Official Chart-reporting retailers and streaming services.

The track notched up sales of 578,000 between June and August 2014 inclusively.

Ella said: "I am completely overwhelmed by the success of Ghost! To have one of the biggest selling songs of the year is absolutely insane. It doesn't feel real. I can't thank everyone enough for all the support. Thank you!"
