One Direction set world record

One Direction have plenty to celebrate after setting a new world record with their music.

The boy band are entering the Guinness World Records book because they are the first act whose first three albums debuted in the top spot in America.

Their records Up All Night and Take Me Home were number ones and they clinched their place in the record books with their latest album Midnight Memories.

Their feat wasn't even managed by massive music stars like The Beatles, Elvis Presley or Michael Jackson.

The boys are currently on tour in the States where they were presented with their Guinness Word Records certificate.

During one of their concerts, Niall Horan told fans it was one of their "proudest moments".

"Whenever we talk about it we always say how cool it is that we did it first, how sick is that?!" said the excited singer.

The 2015 Guinness World Records book will be unveiled later in September.

Meanwhile, the hitmakers sent their fans into a frenzy by releasing an extended trailer for their upcoming big screen release, Where We Are - The Concert Film.

The film is headed to cinemas all around the world for one weekend on October 11 and 12, and will give fans the chance to see Harry Styles and co on the Italian leg of their sell-out world tour.

The cinema event also features an exclusive never before seen backstage interview with the band, only available in cinemas.
