Britney working on ninth album?

Britney Spears has revealed that she is back in the recording studio.

The pop princess - who has been busy with her Piece Of Me residency in Las Vegas - teased fans by tweeting a picture of herself standing at the mic, flashing a peace sign and with a packet of cigarettes on the stand in front of her.

She captioned the snap: "Studio today! Yay!"

The Womanizer singer hasn't confirmed what she was recording, but it's thought she has started working on her ninth album, a follow-up to last year's Britney Jean, which was met with mixed reviews and failed to top the charts.

The singer, 32, looked relaxed and happy in the Twitter picture, showing fans she is moving on following her split from boyfriend David Lucado.

The couple recently broke up amid claims a video had emerged showing David looking cosy with another woman, and Britney addressed the speculation during one of her stage shows in Sin City this week.

She told the crowd: "So I know you know my boyfriend cheated on me. But the best thing about being cheated on is I get to go on more first dates."
