Hit for tragic singer's band GRL

The US girl group featuring tragic singer Simone Battle has achieved UK chart success in the aftermath of her death.

GRL debuted on the singles chart at number 11 with Ugly Heart two days after Simone, who was a contestant on X Factor USA, was found dead in her West Hollywood home.

The band tweeted a tribute to Simone, insisting they will "carry her memory with us in everything we do".

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini also used social media to say: "Such tragically sad news to hear of the passing of Simone Battle. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones."

And Simon Cowell tweeted: "I am so sad to hear about the news Simone Battle has passed away. She was such a fun nice person. It's such a loss. Rest in peace Simone."

Lilly Wood and Robin Schulz topped the chart, from the Official Charts Company, for a second week with Prayer In C, which made a last minute grab for the number one spot following a close battle with Duke Dumont, who settled for number two after leading the race earlier this week with Won't Look Back.

His track, which climbed a massive 167 places this week following its full download release, marks the London producer's third single and follows his previous chart toppers Need U (100%) and I Got U.

New in at number three were The Script with Superheroes. The track serves as the lead single from the band's fourth studio album No Sound Without Silence and marks their seventh UK Top 40 hit to date.

Meanwhile, Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora jumped three places to number four with Black Widow, and Sam Smith from number nine to number five with I'm Not The Only One.

Smith's first album In The Lonely Hour returned to number one on the album chart, 15 weeks after its debut.

The album, which first topped the charts back in June, climbed four places and overtook midweek leaders, Brighton rock duo Royal Blood, with their self-titled album, to take pole position on the tally.

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran's X slipped from number two to number three, and Maroon 5 came in at number four with their fifth studio album V.

Rounding off this week's top five was George Ezra, who climbed three places to number five with Wanted On Voyage.
