One Direction and Ed Sheeran wowed with their performances at the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas.

The chart-topping British boyband - Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson - took to the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for a 15-minute set, which included hits such as Midnight Memories, Best Song Ever and What Makes You Beautiful, reported Billboard.com.

After the group, who have been touring around North America, sang Story Of My Life, Liam joked: "We've been here for too long. We lost all our money, it's all gone. Harry's not old enough to be here - we need someone to escort him back."

Liam also got emotional after they performed What Makes You Beautiful, saying: "We've been together as a band now just over four years, and on behalf of all the boys, thank you, iHeart, for knowing all the words and singing along."

Ed made his debut at the festival, where he was joined by surprise guest Macklemore, who performed a duet of Same Love with him. His set included crowd-pleasing tracks like Don't, Sing and The A Team.

Calvin Harris headlined the event on September 20, and got the audiences pumped up with a light show and his set, which included Summer and new song Blame, where he was joined by John Newman.

Lorde, Taylor Swift, Iggy Azalea, Usher, 50 Cent, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds Of Summer also performed at the two-day event.

Meanwhile, One Direction, 5 Seconds Of Summer and Alicia Keys spoke about their new albums.

One Direction's Zayn told Billboard about their fourth album 4: "I think it's just a progression on the last stuff we've done. We haven't tried to go too different with it. We tried to keep what is our sound, but just kind of grow with it as we've obviously grown up. We've grown a bit more facial hair. And our lyrics need to get a little older as well. So we just kind of want to grow with our fanbase."

5SOS added: "We've started writing for the next album," while Alicia - whose baby bump was kissed by Usher - said her upcoming record is her "best" yet: "Crazy outrageous music, outrageous lyrics. Just really, for me, the best music I've ever done yet. It's a lot deeper and more, like, (there's) more clarity to it and I just can't wait."
