VMAs 2015: Nicki Minaj blasts MTV for a lack of nominations

The nominations for the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards have been announced and some of the stars have taken to Twitter to express their gratitude and excitement.

But one artist isn’t happy. Nicki Minaj seems to be royally hacked off despite three nominations, saying if she was “a different ‘kind’ of artist” Anaconda would have received more.

She got nods for Best Female Video and Best Hip Hop Video, both for Anaconda, as well as a nomination for Bang Bang for Best Collaboration. But Nicki couldn’t help but notice she’d missed out on the Video of the Year and Best Choreography categories.

Her next tweet may have been referring to Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood video, which broke a Vevo world record with 20.1 million views in 24 hours.

Nicki also made a point that Feeling Myself was forgotten completely.

At first Taylor Swift seemed upset by Nicki’s comments.

“I’ve done nothing but love & support you,” she tweeted to Minaj. “It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.”

But Nicki was quick to respond, saying she never mentioned Taylor in her tweets.

“If I win, please come up with me!! You’re invited to any stage I’m ever on,” Taylor replied.

Taylor and the rest of the artists seemed entirely grateful to be nominated at all.
