Lady Gaga wants to become a better 'role model'

Lady Gaga hopes she can use her "voice in the world" to trigger positive change.

The American superstar has not only won fans over with her catchy songs but is also famed for her support of various causes, such as the LGBTQ community. She understands not everyone looks up to her opinions, but she tries to present them as concisely as possible.

"I'm sure there's many people who would say 'Lady Gaga's not role model. Did you see this performance? Did you see that performance?'" she mused to the BBC.

"But the truth is that when I was younger... I didn't quite understand the amount of attention that I had (or) the amount of people that would listen to me. I am older now and I am aware of my voice in the world and I want to be as much of a role model as I can be through my music as well as my performance."

Her new album Joanne, which boasts singles Perfect Illusion and Million Reasons, focuses on the idea of family and friendships and Gaga hopes others will be reminded to care for their loved ones while listening to the record, as well to help "heal the wounds of intergenerational tragedy."

Touching upon Donald Trump becoming the new U.S. President-elect, taking over from President Barack Obama, the singer urged Americans to remain united during the period of transition.

"We need to stay in a kind place and we need to bond during this time, and be as harmonious as possible, and intelligent in the way we approach this," she shared.

Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, gave her interview before a top secret gig at Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd’s Bush, London, on Thursday night (01Dec16). She surprised a small group of fans with an intimate performance, playing new tracks along with classics such as Bad Romance.

"I love my London and U.K. fans so much, and performing my new music for them in such an intimate and spectacular location was the perfect way to celebrate the holidays," she said of the gig.
