Lady Gaga to replace Beyoncé as Coachella headliner

Lady Gaga is getting ready to 'party in the desert' after confirming she will replace Beyoncé at Coachella.

The US pop superstar, 30, will headline the festival after Beyoncé was forced to pull out due to being pregnant with twins.

Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – announced the news on Twitter, writing: “Let's party in the desert!”

She posted the tweet alongside a poster of the line-up confirming her dates as April 15 and 22.

Gaga will join fellow headliners Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar as well as Justice, Lorde, The XX, Bon Iver and Future.

It was revealed last week that Beyoncé will not be performing on “doctors’ orders”.

In a statement, festival organisers said: “Following advice of doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule, Beyoncé has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.

Festival bosses went on to say that the Formation star has rescheduled her set and will now take to the stage in 2018.

Beyoncé - who performed at the Grammy Awards last month - announced that she is expecting twins with her husband Jay-Z in a series of Instagram posts.

She wrote: “We would like to share our love and happiness.

“We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. - The Carters.”B

Coachella runs from April 14–16 and April 21–23.
