This Morning fans in hysterics as Paul Nicholas, 76, shows off his rapping skills

This Morning fans were in hysterics on Tuesday as actor and singer Paul Nicholas made an appearance on the ITV show.

The 76-year-old star is best known for starring in the 1983 BBC sitcom Just Good Friends, but he's also enjoyed a pop career too.

Joining hosts Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond in the studio, Paul was keen to talk about his rather exciting career change.

The Jesus Christ Superstar performer has now turned his hand to rapping for his new record Paul Nicholas Gold, which was released today.

"I looked for something new to do to promote the CD," Paul explained to hosts Alison and Dermot.

When Alison asked if he had enjoyed rapping, Paul replied: "I did, I mean a friend of mine wrote the song and I thought, 'I'm looking for something new to do', and I thought it was quite funny.

"It gave me a chance to dress up as a Peaky Blinder, coz the costumes are very nice, and I had great fun doing it and people seem to like it."

A clip of Paul's rapping music video then played onscreen and sees him rapping the lyrics: "Notorious has always been my cup of tea.... Justin Bieber makes me want to vomit."

Dermot then asked Paul: "Is this essentially you saying, 'I've tried everything, I'll give this a bit of a crack'?"

"Well, I just thought it was nice coming with something new," Paul replied.

But viewers tuning in at home weren't so keen on Paul's new music and took to Twitter to comment.

"#ThisMorning Oh Paul no. Just no," one posted, while another tweeted: "Paul Nicolas a rap artist OMG #ThisMorning."

A third person joked: "Imagine if Paul Nicolas is a great undiscovered talent. The legendary missing member of Wu Tang Clan. #ThisMorning."

A fourth commented: "Paul Nicholas rapping is wrong in so many ways #ThisMorning."

And another claimed: "Alison to Paul - "Did u enjoy rapping"? Paul - of course I did.. what a pathetic question! #ThisMorning."

Other viewers were more shocked by Paul's appearance, with one tweeting: "Blimey I didn't recognise Paul Nicholas!! #ThisMorning."

And another said: "Paul may have aged but he'll always be a legend #ThisMorning."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
