Aerosmith retires from touring after Steven Tyler's voice 'can't recover from injury'

Aerosmith have announced they are to retire from touring.

The band released a statement confirming the news. The announcement comes nearly a year after frontman Steven Tyler, 76, fractured his larynx while singing during a show last September.

"As you know, Steven's voice is an instrument like no other.," the statement said. "He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We've seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible."

It continued, "We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision - as a band of brothers - to retire from the touring stage. We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time."

In February this year, Steven's daugher Mia, had given an update on her dad's condition.

"He's not supposed to be talking sometimes, so I have to literally yell at him and be like, 'You can't be on the phone with me right now, lets just text,'" she said. "You can't shut him up - he can't close that mouth," she joked, before adding that he's "very healthy."

Aerosmith was formed in 1970 and are famous for rock songs including Love in an Elevator and I Don't Want to Miss a Thing.

Their last album, Music From Another Dimension!, was released in 2012, and Steven Tyler released a lone solo album in 2016.
