NewsApril, 10 Mark Hoppus claims Robert Smith tried to kiss him after London concert![]() Mark Hoppus has claimed that The Cure's Robert Smith once tried to kiss him at a concert after-party in London. In his new memoir, Fahrenheit-182, the Blink-182 musician claimed that the alleged incident occurred after his childhood hero appeared on stage with the band at London's Wembley Arena in 2004 to perform their collaborative song All of This. Hoppus recounted the story in an interview with Us Weekly and expressed regret for not reciprocating the kiss. "Everyone was drinking, everyone was having fun. My wife and I are like, 'Alright, we're out. See you later,' and then Robert tries to kiss me," he recalled. "He was my hero. I grew up listening to this guy's music and it changed my life forever. Then he tries to kiss me at a party and I'm like, 'I should have done that. Why not?' It's a much better story than he tried to kiss me and it was awkward. It would've been rad to be like, 'Yeah, made out with my hero.'" The 53-year-old noted that he "wasn't bummed" by the incident but more "flabbergasted that nobody else saw it" except for the band's drum and bass technicians. He also chalked the British rocker's behaviour up to him "feeling saucy and having a good time". The bassist admitted to the publication that he didn't give Smith a heads-up about including the story in his autobiography. "I should have called him or given some kind of warning or something, but I don't know - how do you have that conversation? 'Hey, remember when you tried to make out with me?' Because we've never addressed it," he explained. "I've seen him several times since, and it's been totally cool and nobody's talked about it." Smith has yet to address the claims. Fahrenheit-182 is on sale now.
