Lizzo delivers speech in support of black trans women

Lizzo delivered an impassioned speech supporting black trans women during her headlining concert at the Pride festival in West Hollywood.

"This is dedicated to you and, more importantly, the black trans women who, without their fight, we would not be able to celebrate today," the singer announced from the main stage.

"And we still in some s**t, right? But hopefully, one day we will see a place where we no longer have to fight to exist. This is for you."

Lizzo then performed a stripped-down version of the 1939 Wizard of Oz anthem Over the Rainbow with a piano accompanist.

The Still Bad singer further lauded the trans community for fighting against "the systems that tried to erase them".

"In honour of that fight, we have to continue to take a stand against that very same system that threatens our rights to bodily autonomy and liberation. We ain't free until we're all free."

The Detroit-born star showcased her famously full figure in underwear after reaching her weight-loss goal in January.

She lost 16 per cent of her body fat, but refuses to reveal exactly how much weight she's shed.

"If I say the number, I don't think people could do the math," the Love in Real Life singer told The Jason Lee Show last week.

"I've just seen a lot of TikToks where it's like, 'Lizzo talks about her 500-pound weight loss!' Why are y'all putting numbers on me? It kind of annoys me."
