NewsJune, 5 Billy Joel skips bio-doc premiere at Tribeca amid brain condition diagnosis![]() Billy Joel was a no-show at the premiere of his documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The notable absence came days after the Piano Man singer cancelled his upcoming tour dates and revealed a rare brain condition diagnosis. Billy Joel: And So It Goes premiered at the Festival on Wednesday, 4 June. The bio-documentary showcases the music icon's journey from his humble Long Island beginnings to international superstardom via never-before-seen footage and candid interviews. While Joel wasn't at the Beacon Theatre to see the screening, stars including Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Hanks, Robert De Niro and Mariska Hargitay were present. Last month, Joel announced he had been diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a condition where excess cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the ventricles of the brain. According to a statement posted on his Instagram account, his health condition has worsened since his recent stage performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance. Under his doctor's instructions, the Uptown Girl musician is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been "advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period". NPH is primarily characterised by a triad of dementia, gait disturbance and urinary incontinence, according to the US Hydrocephalus Association.
