Billy Idol addresses 'promiscuous' past

Billy Idol has discussed his "promiscuous" past that led to the arrival of a child he was not expecting.

The 69-year-old punk rock singer recently discovered he had a secret son named Brant who was born in the 1980s.

He discovered the unexpected news when a genealogy test connected a member of his family to Brant, who was looking to track down his biological father.

Asked if he was shocked to learn he had a child he did not know about, Idol told iNews, "Maybe a little bit, but the more I thought about it, I guessed there must be something like that."

He continued, "We were going around in the 80s, and 70s, just having knockdown, drag-out sex with a million people you didn't know."

The To Be a Lover singer added, "A lot of people in the rock world got children beyond their usual relationship."

Idol is father to 37-year-old son Willem Wolfe Broad, who he shares with ex-partner Perri Lister, and 35-year-old daughter Bonnie Blue Broad, who he shares with with ex-partner Linda Mathis.

Brant was discovered when Bonnie took a 23andMe DNA test and learned she had an unexpected half-brother.

Discussing the son he conceived during his 1985 Rebel Yell Tour, Idol declared, "We're quite good friends, and I love him. He's a nice guy."
