NewsSeptember, 3 Cardi B throws pen at reporter over 'disrespectful' question after being cleared of assault![]() Cardi B threw a pen towards a reporter outside a Los Angeles courthouse on Tuesday after he asked her a "disrespectful" question after she was cleared of assault. After a civil trial, the Bodak Yellow rapper was cleared of the assault and battery allegations made against her by former security guard Emani Ellis. As she left the courthouse, a male reporter could be heard asking her a personal question about her love life instead of the verdict. "Hey Cardi, you're beautiful," he said as she walked down the steps of the courthouse, according to video footage. "Insiders are claiming (estranged husband) Offset is publicly bragging about getting you pregnant for the fourth time. Do you foresee any paternity issues with Stefon Diggs?" Cardi, who began dating sportsman Diggs last year, then took a pen from a waiting fan and threw it in the man's direction, yelling, "Stop disrespecting me. Don't disrespect me." As she was escorted to her car, the reporter shouted at the star, insisting he still loves her "even though you just threw stuff at me". She then turned around to face him and passionately stated, "I don't care. You're disrespectful. Don't do that. Do you see women asking those types of questions to me? Why do you feel as a man you have to ask me those types of questions? Act like you have some manners and your mum taught you (to) respect women." During the trial, Cardi was accused of cutting Ellis's cheek with her long nails and spitting on her during an argument outside a Beverly Hills doctor's office in February 2018. The I Like It hitmaker, who was secretly pregnant at the time, testified that she never touched Ellis during the "verbal altercation". After the verdict on Tuesday, the 32-year-old thanked her legal team, the jurors and her supporters and declared that she will countersue the next person who tries to file a "frivolous" lawsuit against her. The hip-hop star filed for divorce from Migos rapper Offset, the father of her three children, in July 2024.
