Lorde opens up about 'healing' experience amid eating struggles

Lorde has reflected on a "healing" period in her life as she grappled with disordered eating.

The 28-year-old New Zealand-born star has previously spoken candidly about her struggles, and in a new interview with Dazed, she revealed that swimming in London's all-female Hampstead ponds provided unexpected solace.

"In 2023, I came to London in May and left in October. I just read and came swimming here almost every day," she said. "I was pretty deep in, I would say, the peak of my eating issues. And it was a huge battle every day."

The hitmaker continued, "It's all good. But I found swimming in the ladies' pond did something very healing to me."

Lorde also shared how being surrounded by other women helped shift her perspective.

"Something about being in this crowd of bodies and seeing all these girls eating - every girl's got a bag from (British bakery chain) Gail's - and being held in the water... It was so beautiful," the singer told the publication. "That honestly was a big part of me choosing to let go of this."

Elsewhere in the interview, the Royals hitmaker said she is hoping to spend more time in her homeland after years of being away.

"I'm not there as much as I would like, and I miss it all the time," she admitted. "I'm trying to make more of an effort to spend time there - that's a priority for the next couple of years. I have a place there now, I'm committed."
