Selena Gomez admits she was 'sobbing' after Benny Blanco wedding

Selena Gomez has revealed she sobbed after getting married to Benny Blanco because she had the irrational fear that she'd die the next day.

The 33-year-old star, who has been open about her mental health struggles for years, admitted during Fortune's Most Powerful Women conference in Washington D.C. on Wednesday that she has a hard time enjoying moments because she's often waiting for something bad to happen.

"This is how I work personally, but something great happens in my life, I expect something bad to happen," she explained. "So instead of being present and saying, 'Okay, wow, we've done a great thing,' which I do, I'm always thinking, 'Okay, but this could all go away tomorrow, so how can I make sure that doesn't happen?'"

The Rare Beauty founder then revealed how this tendency manifested itself after she tied the knot with the music producer in California on 27 September after two years of dating.

"I would say that's my biggest conflict sometimes when wonderful things happen," she said. "I got married and then I was sobbing because I was like, 'I'm gonna die the next day.' I just think that's a little life thing."

The Only Murders in the Building actress, who got engaged to Benny in December 2024, exchanged vows with the music star in front of celebrity guests including Taylor Swift, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Paul Rudd, Cara Delevingne, Ed Sheeran and SZA.

She has been very open about her experiences with bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression and even addressed them further in her 2022 documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me.
