Doja Cat opens up about being quick to respond to critics on social media

Doja Cat has opened up about why she is often quick to respond to critics on social media.

The Paint The Town Red hitmaker has become widely known for frequently clapping back at negative comments online.

In a new interview with Vogue published on Wednesday, Doja explained that she feels compelled to defend herself against the criticism she receives on social media.

"When I feel that I'm threatened, even though it may not be a threat at all, it rhymes with: You are failing," she shared. "I feel like I have to defend my creative choices, and then I give those people power even though they could be anybody - they could have Cheeto dust on their fingers and have no job."

The rapper, who recently revealed that she had been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, shared that therapy has helped her become less reactive to online criticism.

"I'm not cured of anything," she clarified. "But it helps me understand why I do the things that I do."

Most recently, Doja took to TikTok to call out Timothée Chalamet after he suggested that the general public no longer care about ballet or opera. She later returned to social media to admit that she criticised the Marty Supreme actor to "garner clicks".

Elsewhere in the interview, Doja, 30, noted that therapy has helped her become more relaxed.

"This is what therapy has done for me," she stated. "It's allowed me to be away and be at peace without being like, 'I need tarot cards. I need an answer. Text me.' I don't do any of that anymore. It's very nice."
