NewsAugust, 7 Barbra Streisand to publish debut children's book
Barbra Streisand is set to release her debut children's book next year. On Thursday, editors at Penguin Young Readers and Flamingo Books announced that the Hollywood icon will unveil a picture book titled And By the Way... on 30 March 2027. Written by Streisand and illustrated by Paige Keiser, the project follows a "grandparent-grandchild pair on a dazzling day as they play, splash, and contemplate life's most important truths". "I love being 'Gamma Barbra' to my three beautiful grandchildren," the Oscar-winner wrote on Instagram. "Since reading is such a wonderful way to engage and stimulate young minds, I was inspired to write my first children's picture book. And by the way... I hope you like it!" In a statement to People, Streisand explained that the book's title comes from an expression she uses often. "It seems like there's always one more thing to say!" the 84-year-old enthused. "The message is one of discovery, self-expression, self-reliance and of course, love." Streisand is a grandparent through her stepson Josh Brolin's two marriages. The actor shares his two youngest children, Westlyn, seven, and Chapel, five, with wife Kathryn Boyd. And By the Way... is now available for pre-order. Streisand released her memoir, My Name Is Barbra, in November 2023.
