Bret Michaels Cancels Shows After Surgery

Bret Michaels has pulled the plug on all his upcoming performances following an emergency procedure for kidney stones.

A total of eight concerts, including several North American festival dates and other stops on his Live and Amplified tour, have been dropped.

The cancellation comes even though the Poison frontman tried to keep going with his schedule, playing a show in Georgia on Friday night.

In a Facebook statement on Saturday, Michaels Entertainment Group explained that after his comeback gig at The Bowl at Sugar Hill, doctors and paramedics decided right away that he still needs more rest and recovery from his recent surgeries. They added that the musician will be taking the next several months off to heal and get back to full strength.

The rocker's doctors also said in the statement that they will be pulling him off the road for now. They noted that he wanted to attempt the show, but they believe a longer period of rest and a slow recovery is necessary, especially given the summer heat and humidity and how it can affect his blood sugar levels.

Michaels responded to fans in the comments, saying there are not enough words to express how much their messages mean to him.

Earlier this year, a 40th anniversary Poison tour was also scrapped after reports that Michaels had asked for a fee six times larger than what his bandmates would earn.
