X Factor stars JLS back 'axed' Cole

X Factor stars have pledged their support to Cheryl Cole following reports that she has been dropped from the US version of the show.

Chart-topping boy band JLS, consisting of Aston Merrygold, JB Gill, Marvin Humes and Oritse Williams, said the 27-year-old singer and judge should keep her chin up and take back her existing place on the reality singing show.

"It's quite disappointing, obviously. Cheryl is an incredibly strong woman - she has been through a lot - and I think she will bounce back from this - no problem," said Humes, 26, at the UK premiere of the band's new 3D film, Eyes Wide Shut, in central London.

He added she would have plenty of backing from British fans if she decided to return.

"You have to draw good from the bad, and Cheryl will obviously be disappointed, but when one door closes, another one opens.

"She will be welcomed home with open arms, and everyone wants to see her return to the UK version of the show. It would be amazing," he said.

Gill said Cole, who is tipped to be replaced by former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, would have been a worthy addition to the judging panel, which currently includes Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and LA Reid.

"She has something nobody else had, and that's experience. She's been through a show like that before, she understands what the contestants are going through and it's important to have someone like her," he added.

Eyes Wide Shut, a behind-the-scenes documentary following JLS at their sold-out gig at London's O2, will be screened at more than 300 venues across the country between Friday June 3 and Sunday June 5.
