Beyonce closes show at Glastonbury

Glastonbury fell crazy in love with Beyonce as the American superstar brought this year's festival to a close.

More than 50,000 fans crammed in front of the Pyramid stage as she told them: "This is my dream."

And the US singer brought a touch of "girl power" to the festival as its first female headliner. She was joined on stage by an all-girl band, and encouraged the large number of female fans at the front of the crowd to join in as she performed some of her biggest solo hits along with some favourites from her Destiny's Child days.

At the beginning of the set she appeared silhouetted against a white triangle of light and the crowd went wild.

"Glaston-berry, are you ready?" she called. The crowd responded with a frenzy of excitement.

Wearing a low cut gold sequinned top, which split to reveal a pair of black knickers, the 29-year-old opened her high energy set with Crazy In Love.

After finishing the first song she told the crowd: "I want you all to know right now you're witnessing my dream. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for having me and my band tonight.

"I always wanted to be a rock star and tonight we are all rock stars... I want to make beautiful memories and be free tonight."

Despite rumours of many special guests, it was only Bristolian Tricky who made it onto the stage to help her out on Baby Boy. Husband Jay-Z was watching from the audience.

As she sang her closing number Halo, the singer jumped off stage and went to meet fans at the front of the crowd.
